  • • On August 20, 1959, in accordance with the order of the USSR Ministry of Agriculture No. 174 dated August 3, 1959, the North Caucasian branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Phytopathology was organized on the basis of the second department of the Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture. After a number of reorganization reforms, the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Federal Research Center of Biological Plant Protection" (FSBSI FRCBPP) was established in October 2020.
  • Currently, the FSBSI FRCBPP conducts research work in the field of biological plant protection on topics within the framework of the State assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (founder)
  • 150 employees work in the 19 divisions of the Center, including 60 Researchers, one of them is the Corresponding Member of the RAS, 2 Doctors of Science, and 22 PhD specialists. There are 7 laboratories, 1 sector, and 1 branch.
  • Through the introduction of scientific and technological developments and their agricultural support, as well as information and consulting services, the Center provides comprehensive assistance to the development of agricultural production, including those operating according to organic farming standards.

The main directions of fundamental and applied research:

  • Plant protection and biotechnology;
  • Phytosanitary monitoring and molecular genetic diagnostics of harmful and beneficial organisms of agroecosystems;
  • Biodiversity and natural biocenotic regulation of agroecosystems;
  • Taxonomic study and selection of useful bioagents for the creation of new biological and biotechnological plant protection products based on them;
  • Plant immunity and agrocenosis resistance;
  • Chemical communication of harmful and beneficial types of agroecosystems, identification and synthesis of signaling substances and development of pest population monitoring and management tools based on them;
  • Creation, maintenance and study of the bioresource collection "State Collection of Entomoaccariphages and Microorganisms" (DBK);
  • Development of biological plant protection technologies for organic farming.
